Platinum electrode is used as an auxiliary electrode in electrochemical measurements.
It is designed to fit in our universal photoelectrochemical cell.
The bottom part of the electrode is flat, so the capacitance of the electrolyte-electrode layer is possibly large. That helps to separate that capacitance from other capacitances connected in series, like a capacitance of working electrode.
