Potentiostat P-IF 1.6 is an electronic instrument that allows to measure the characteristics of the chrono-volt-amperometric signal in electrochemical systems. It controls both potentiodynamic electrochemical measurements like cyclic voltammetry (CV) and photocurrent action spectra as a function
of the potential and wavelength as well.
The potential control range is ±5V and the current range is from 100 nA to 10 mA. The instrument is capable of measuring current down to picoamperes.

A potentiostat requires an electrochemical cell with three electrodes.

  • (WE) The Working Electrode is the electrode where the potential is controlled and where the current is measured
  • (RE) The Reference Electrode is used to measure the Working Electrode potential (most common are the saturated calomel electrode and the silver/silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) electrodes)
  • (CE) The Counter (Auxiliary) Electrode is a conductor that completes the cell circuit

The electrodes are immersed in an electrolyte (an electrically conductive solution).
